What we collect about you, why, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. In plain English, because you should not need a solicitor to read a privacy policy.
Who we are
MedPath Scotland provides medical school application coaching to students applying to Scottish medical schools. We are a small business based in Scotland. For any question about your information, contact hello@medpathscotland.co.uk.
What we collect
When you fill in our contact form or our interview sign up form, we collect:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- A second email address, if you choose to give one, such as a parent or guardian
- What kind of applicant you are, for example a school leaver or a graduate applicant
- Which service you are interested in
- Which medical schools you have applied to, if you choose to tell us
- Anything you choose to write in the free text box
- Your answer to the optional widening access question, if you answer it
If you book a call, our booking provider also records the date, time and email address you book with. If you become a paying student, we keep the notes needed to coach you properly and a record of payment.
Why we are allowed to hold it
We hold your information because you gave it to us in order to ask about coaching, which means we are acting on your request and, once you book, performing a contract with you. For the optional widening access question we rely on your consent, which is why that question can be skipped entirely. For advertising cookies we rely on your consent, which you give or refuse in the bar at the bottom of the page.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of outside services to run the business. Each one only receives what it needs.
- Formspree delivers your contact form submission to our email inbox.
- Calendly handles call bookings.
- Mailchimp sends our newsletter. Only paying students are added, and only after their first session. You can unsubscribe from any email.
- Netlify hosts this website.
- Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, receives information about visits to this site only if you accept advertising cookies.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with schools, universities or anyone else without asking you first.
Cookies
This site uses one optional cookie set by the Meta pixel, which measures whether our adverts are working. It does not run unless you press Accept. If you press "No thanks", it never loads, and the site works exactly the same. Your choice is stored in your own browser so you are not asked repeatedly. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the question will appear again.
How long we keep it
If you enquire and do not go ahead, we delete your enquiry after twelve months. If you become a student, we keep your records for the duration of your application cycle and for two years afterwards, in case you come back to us or need a reference point. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
If you are under 18
Many of the students we work with are in S5 or S6 and under 18. We ask for a parent or guardian email address so that a responsible adult can be involved, and we encourage you to tell a parent or guardian before booking. If you are under 16 and want your information removed, you or your parent or guardian can email us and we will remove it.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete it, or stop using it. Email hello@medpathscotland.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
